William George Boyle

William George Boyle, age 79, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 11, 2023 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Nineveh and former resident of Indianapolis.

William was born on January 29, 1943 in Indianapolis to his late parents Blanchard “Bud” and Rhea (Lewis) Boyle.  After High School he attended Butler University and received a teaching degree.  He then served in the US Army and was Honorably Discharged on August 1, 1969.  Afterward, he went back to College to get an MBA from Butler University and proceeded to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 35 years until he retired.   During that time William continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves and Army National Guard.

William is preceded in death by his late wife Cheryl Margaret McLean Boyle on April 14, 2020.  They were married on November 20,1982 in Carmel, Indiana.  They were most recently faithful members of the Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship, where William served as an Elder.  They were also active members of the Brown County Historical Society.  Throughout the years they volunteered in various ways throughout their communities as well as mission trips.

William was an avid reader, mostly of books about history and wars.  He enjoyed painting miniature soldiers, planes, and horses that were used in war games, some of which he helped create.  William enjoyed sharing his knowledge of History to all that were willing to listen.  He was a volunteer at the Cordry Sweet Water Fire Department and wanted to help out in any way that he was able to.  Besides spending time with wife, family, and friends, he always enjoyed his drives in the convertible with the top down and classical music playing.

He will be greatly missed by his family; sister Sandy Hawes; nieces Stacey (Brian) Manganello, Dorrine (Celyn) Evans; nephew Scott McLean; great nieces and nephews: Collin, Caitlin, Aiden, Trevor and Selina and of course Kud-Li (dog). He will also be missed by his church family, along with his extended family in Canada, friends, neighbors, and others in the community that he had met.

A Celebration of William and Cheryl’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on March 18, 2023 at the Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship: 602 N. State Road 135 in Nashville, Indiana. Military honors will be presented by the United States Army and the Brown County Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
