Virginia "Ginny" Langley Knieper Obituary

Virginia E. “Ginny” (Wright) Langley Knieper, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at IU Health Methodist Hospital, following injuries from an automobile accident.  She was a 30 year resident of Brown County.

Ginny was born on February 27, 1938, in Indianapolis, to her parents the late Paul W. and Gladys P. (Warrenfelt) Wright. She was a 1956 graduate of Howe High School in Indianapolis and married her high school sweetheart, James “Jim” Langley. Together they started a family and were blessed with four children, Brian, Debbie, Cindy and Annette. Jim preceded her in death all too soon in 1968. Ginny later married William J. Knieper in 1973 in Indianapolis and spent 34 loving years of marriage together before his passing in 2008.

Ginny worked in the customer service department for Peoples Bank in Indianapolis for 17 years. She was a former Bluebird Girl Leader and Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority member in Indianapolis. She was also a member of the Brown County Garden Club and the Spinners & Weavers Guild. Ginny was a strong and faithful believer and attended Brown County Community Church, Goshen Community Church and was a previous 20 year member of Cottonwood Christian Church and St Luke's Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

In her free time, Ginny enjoyed knitting, playing euchre and cheering for the Purdue Men’s basketball team. She also enjoyed watching bull riding, horse shows and rodeos. Ginny spent time weaving rugs and placemats on her loom and collected Native American baskets and rugs. She will be remembered most for her love of animals, love of family and her unyielding faith in God.

She will be missed by her children: Brian (Patty) Langley of Bloomington, Debra “Debbie” (Dave) Price of Indianapolis, Cynthia “Cindy” Langley of Franklin, Georgia and Annette Langley of Jackson, Wyoming; grandchildren, Emily Price and Mitchell Price as well as several nieces and nephews including Ryan and Lois Ann.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and father of her children, Jim Langley, second husband William Knieper; siblings, Mary Wade, Kathleen Hoffman, Walter, Howard, James and Joseph Wright.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Washington Park East in Indianapolis.
