Sheila Plummer Obituary

Sheila G. (Shelton) Plummer, age 65 went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to reunite with her husband on January 31, 2021 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Morgantown and former resident of Indianapolis.

Sheila was born August 21, 1955 in Indianapolis, to her parents, the late Junior and Louise (Lane) Shelton. She attended Manual High School in Indianapolis and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Computer Programming from Ivy Tech in 1983 and became a licensed Cosmetologist in 1987. Sheila retired as the co-owner and operator, alongside her husband, of the Tool Crib in Mooresville. Prior to that Sheila worked as a Hairstylist at Cache Beauty in Indianapolis and was an instructor at Hair Fashions by Kaye for ten years.

“God made me what I am.” Sheila was baptized on November 15, 1970 at the age of 15 and has been a devoted member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Southport. Sheila was also a member of the Decatur Quilt Guild since 2007. She enjoyed keeping up with family and friends on Facebook, quilting, crocheting and was an avid reader of anything in print. Sheila will be remembered for her funny personality and never passing an opportunity to be challenged. She learned to play the piano at age 62, and loved playing her favorite song, “The Rose.” Sheila’s advice to her family and friends was to “Never go to bed angry” and “love the Lord with all your heart, mind, body and spirit.” She always told her children that “Everything will be ok.”

She was preceded in death on August 21, 2017 by her loving husband of 34 years, James A. "Jim" Plummer; whom she married on March 12, 1983 in Indianapolis. Sheila was also preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Englehart; brother-in-law, Tim Englehart; and child of the heart, Jimmy Watterson.

She is survived by her children, Laura (Dan) Long of Brownsburg, James A. (Shae) Plummer of Shelbyville, Mike (Lisa) Plummer of Greenfield and Sondra (Larry) Chapman of Morgantown; brother, Steve (Charlotte) Shelton of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Geoff, Ryan, Chip, Taylor, Jesse, Hayden, Mason, Lebreah, Alex, Jake and Christian; great grandson, Jaxton; children of the heart, John and Jackie Schoolcraft of Mooresville; grandchildren of the heart, Jaston, Caitlyn, James, Jada, JoHannah, John, Steven, Chris and Suzy; and several nieces and nephews.
