Sharon Joyce (Mabry) Crabtree-Matlock

Sharon Joyce (Mabry) Crabtree-Matlock, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 26, 2019 at Countryside Meadows in Avon.  She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Sharon was born September 12, 1940 in Indianapolis, to her parents, the late Fred and Elise (Curtis) Mabry. She was a 1958 graduate of Union High School. Sharon went on to retire from St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove after 20 years of service as a Secretary in the Nursing Department. 

She was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church in Trafalgar. Sharon enjoyed cooking, tending to her vegetable garden and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family and caring for her dog, Abbey.

Sharon was preceded in death by her son, Tim Crabtree; husbands, Burns Crabtree and Clarence E. “Shorty” Matlock; siblings, Joeann Burkhart and James Mabry; and a nephew, Dana Burkhart.

She is survived by her sisters, Vickie (Terry) Johnson of Danville and Eugenia Willingham of Cloverdale; nieces & nephews, Gary (Judy) Burkhart, Christy Padgett, Bill (Amy) Burkhart, Jill (Bob) Abbott, Danny Willingham, Sheryl (Gary) Long, Tracy Mabry, Trella (Doug) Stahl, Matt Johnson and Missie Johnson; and several great nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Rob Dugan will conduct a graveside service on Monday at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. State Road 135 in Greenwood. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.
