Sandra L. “Sandy” (Woodard) Burkhart, age 73 passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday morning, January 2, 2023 at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community in Franklin. She was a resident of Peoga.
Sandy was born January 23, 1949 in Lee City, VA to her parents, Charles L. and Margaret R. (Wade) Woodard. She attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis and went on to retire as a CNA from the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. After retirement, Sandy worked as a private duty caregiver.
She was a member of the Locust Grove Pentecostal Church in Trafalgar. Sandy enjoyed going to church, finding yard sales, and cooking for her family. She will be remembered for her delicious Butterscotch Delight and Chicken Enchiladas. Sandy loved spending time with her family and caring for her mother.
She was preceded in death on August 3, 2018 by her loving husband of 51 years, Eddie R. Burkhart, whom she married on August 13, 1966 in Indianapolis. Sandy was also preceded in death by her father, Charles Woodard.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret Gamble of Franklin; children, Connie (Mark) Doyle of Mooresville, Paul David Burkhart of Morgantown and Donna (Bradley) Fisher of Nineveh; siblings, Michael (Billie Jo) Woodard of Brown County, Charles (Valerie) Woodard of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Andrea (Ben) Childs of Mooresville, Nathan (Crystal) Harless of Indianapolis, Chris Burkhart of Franklin, Danielle & Brandon Fisher of Nineveh, Amelia & Abby Doyle of Mooresville, Kemper Burkhart of Morgantown; great grandchildren, Olivia Renee Burkhart, Kennedy Raelyn Childs, Klara Jayne Childs & Norah Kate Childs; and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Bro. Jay Griffie will conduct a funeral service on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Locust Grove Pentecostal Church: 3522 Peoga Road in Trafalgar. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
