Samantha K. ‘Sam’ Stephens-Howard, age 53 passed away all too soon on Thursday morning, May 12, 2022 at her home in Morgantown.
She was born September 10, 1968 in Somerset, Kentucky, to her parents, the late James Samuel and Ada (Thompson) Stephens. Sam was a 1986 graduate of Indian Creek High School and went on to study Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management at IUPUC.
Sam was employed as the Server Trainer at Wings Etc. in Franklin. Prior to that, she was the Kitchen Manager at the Crowbar Inn Restaurant & Lounge in Trafalgar, Franklin Meadows Nursing Home and worked for several years at Cracker Barrel in Edinburgh.
Sam enjoyed the outdoors by camping, swimming and boating. She loved caring for babies and animals, especially her two dogs, Peanut and Little Mac. Sam was an avid reader of Nora Roberts and J.D. Robb novels. Her true passion was being the best mother to her son, Logan. She cared for him deeply and made sure he never went without. Many that knew her, considered her their mom as well. Sam loved to cook and spend time with her family and friends that she loved and they loved her.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan Samuel Logan Howard of Morgantown; husband, David Howard of Peoga; sister, Mary Francis Ford of Washington State; and nieces, Alysha Richards of Franklin, Robin Hedden and Christina Rexroad, both of Washington State.
Sam was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lori Richards; and a niece, Nikki Wilhoite.
In keeping with Sam’s wishes, she will be cremated with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
