Robert “Bobby” C. Harsch, age 80, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community. He was a resident of Brown County.
Bobby was born October 20, 1942 in Brown County, to his parents, the late John Edward and Ruby L. (Anderson) Harsch. He was a 1961 graduate of Helmsburg High School.
Bobby worked for Ford Motor Company as a job setter for 23 years. His love of logging landed him a position at Crone Lumber Co. in Martinsville where he cut veneer and later became their truck driver. Known as “Bo-weval” by his co-workers, he served the logging company for over 30 years.
In his free time, he loved woodworking and built several cabinets for homes in the Peoga area and even built his own home in Brown County in 2004. Bobby enjoyed spending time in the outdoors by fishing and hunting, umpiring little league baseball, coaching girls’ softball and playing and coaching the JC men’s league. Bobby also enjoyed watching NASCAR with Kyle Busch being his favorite driver. He will be remembered most for his ability to problem solve and fix issues, never meeting a stranger and his love of family.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 37 years: Jennie L. Harsch whom he married on November 2, 1985 in Nashville; children, Tammy (Brad) Greeson of Carmel, Kim (Steve) Morgan, Jon (Katrina) Harsch and Robert L. Harsch all of Brown County; step-children: Jody (Darrell) Rose of Indianapolis, Jack Justus and Janet Williamson both of Texas; 10 grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brother, Paul E. (Donna) Harsch of Bargersville and mother of his children, Norma Ellen Gregory.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny Lee Harsch, and step-children, Jo Ellen Justus and Jeffrey Justus.
A funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nineveh Cemetery.
