Robert L. ‘Bob’ Craig, age 71 passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, October 28, 2023 at his home in Morgantown.
Bob was born September 12, 1952 in Camp McCoy, WI to his parents, the late Robert L. and Lenora Jean (Jarrell) Craig. He served as Specialist 4 with the United States Army serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, Bob earned an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences from Ivy Tech. He retired in 2008 as a Union Carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local Union in Columbus after 25 years of service.
Bob was a member of the Indiana National Guard, American Legion Post 230 in Martinsville and attended the Hoosier Harvest Church in Martinsville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and driving the countryside to visit with family and friends. Bob also enjoyed playing cards, traveling and doing projects around the house. He was a fan of college and NFL football, with the Dallas Cowboys being his favorite team. His true passion was his love for his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sally Ann (Heitzman) Craig, whom he married on June 9, 1973 in Greens Peak, AZ. He is also survived by his sons, Curtis (Kim) Craig of Martinsville, Jacob (Erin) Craig of Trafalgar and Ty (Daniell) Craig of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Courtney Craig of Virginia Beach, VA, Landon & Dylan Craig both of Trafalgar and Alia, Sky & Jaden Craig all of Kansas City, MO.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepfather, Terry Ragan.
Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 12 p.m. on Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with military rites presented by the United States Army and the Honor Guards of the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
