Raymond E. ‘Ray’ Findley, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 15, 2021 at his home in Morgantown, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
Ray was born October 4, 1950 in Jackson County to his parents, the late Earl E. and Carlie (Barger) Findley. He attended Indian Creek High School and went on to retire in 2013 as a Slitter Operator for Sonoco Flexible Packaging in Edinburgh after 41 years of service. Ray was also the owner and operator of his family farm, Findley Farms, in Morgantown, where he grew crops and raised livestock.
He was a member of the Morgantown Baptist Church, Morgan County Antique Machinery Association and participated in the Rock Steady Boxing program at The Social of Greenwood. He was a former member of the Union Christian Church in Franklin and the Greenwood Moose Lodge #2079. His true passion was taking care of his farm and helping other farmers in the area. Ray enjoyed collecting antique tractors, golfing and running 5K’s and the Indy 500 Mini-Marathon.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Dorothy F. (Dugan) Findley, whom he married on January 25, 1969 in Celina, Tennessee. Ray was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Norma Poore; and siblings, Juanita Walker, Roy, Eddison and Franklin Findley.
He is survived by his sons, David (wife, Megan) Findley and Darrell (wife, Nicole) Findley both of
Morgantown; siblings, Sue (Bob) Kincaid of Franklin, Joe (Dezra) Findley of Franklin and Kevin Poore of Seymour; sister-in-law, Wanda Findley of Franklin; grandchildren, Hayley, Makayla, Mackenzie, Jaidan, Braison, D.J., Allen and Levi.
The Rev. Andy Haynes will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, September 21st at 11 a.m. Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 20th at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
