Orval Lee White

Orval Lee White, age 85 passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Franciscan St. Francis in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Morgantown.

He was born May 24, 1936, in Spearsville, to the late Lawrence Everett and Mary Ellen (Emberton) White. Orval attended Helmsburg High School and later served 9 years with the Army National Guard. He retired in January 2002 from Lathers, where he worked as a carpenter since the age of 16. He also worked as a Foreman for Union 304 in Greenwood for over 30 years.

Orval attended Spearville Wesleyan Church and enjoyed working on automobiles, watching NASCAR and news programs. He also enjoyed planting flowers and doing yardwork on his property in Morgantown.

Orval will be missed by his sisters Ruth Ann LaFary, Dianne White and Cathy White all of Olney, Illinois, companion Carolyn White of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Lawrence White Jr., Donald “D.R.”  White, Betty Howell, Rosemary LaFary, John L. White and Robert White.

In keeping with Orval’s wishes, he will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28th at the Spearsville Wesleyan Church in Brown County. Military Rites will be presented by the Brown County Honor Guard at the beginning of the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
