Orpha McLary Obituary

Orpha M. (Weddle) McLary, age 95 passed away Tuesday morning, April 14, 2020 at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community.  She was a resident of Morgantown.

Orpha was born July 1, 1924 in Johnson County to her parents, the late Robert Roy and Amy Carol (Boles) Weddle.  She attended Trafalgar High School and went on to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family.

Orpha married her loving husband of 25 years, John S. McLary on December 24, 1963 in Trafalgar. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1989. She was also preceded in death by daughters, Donna Walker and Sharon Ann Miers; sons, Billie Wayne Miers and Marlin Lee Miers; first husband, William A. Miers; siblings, Erma Jean Duke, Hazel Weddle, Helen Weddle, Jane Weddle, Christine Castner, Jerry Weddle, Wilson Weddle, Carl Weddle, Merrill Weddle, Lester Weddle, Forest Weddle and Dale Weddle; and a son in law, George Wood.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Sue Wood of Morgantown and Betty Jane (Lee) Collett of Brown County; siblings, Marjorie Bishop and Kathleen Bishop, both of Missouri and Bobby (Ike) Weddle of Bedford; son in law, John Walker of Morgantown; grandchildren, Kyle Parish, Brian Arnold, John Wayne Walker, Brent Arnold, Georgia Fox, William Miers and Michael Miers; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Orpha was one of the original founding members of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Trafalgar. She enjoyed volunteering for Caring Hearts in Morgantown and tending to her garden. Orpha also enjoyed canning & sharing recipes, especially recipes that used fresh vegetables. She also owned and operated an upholstery shop out of her home for many years. Orpha was loved by all and will be missed greatly.

Due to the current restrictions created by the COVID-19 outbreak, a private family graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Hopson. Orpha will be laid to rest next to her husband at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
