Mr. Wendell "Louie" Smith

Wendell "Louie" Smith, age 62 passed away all too soon on Sunday evening, July 7, 2019 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.

Louie was born June 16, 1957, in Indianapolis, to the late Homer T. and Ester "Velvie" (Halliburton) Smith. Louie was a 1976 graduate of Perry Meridian High School and went on to earn an Associate's Degree from Ivy Tech Community College.

Louie worked for SM&P Underground Utilities for 15 years before retiring as the District Manager for Southern Indiana in 2007. After retirement, Louie worked part-time for Lowes in the Loss Prevention Department.

Faith was a very important part of his Louie's life. He was a member and Deacon of the First Christian Church of Morgantown. He enjoyed reading and studying God's word. In his free time, Louie enjoyed fishing, playing pool, spending time in the outdoors, gardening and watching NASCAR. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Cynthia "Cindi" (Curbeaux) Smith, whom he married on October 18, 2008 in Indianapolis, children: Krysta Smith of Decatur Twp, Rachelle (Nick) Cannon-Mason of Whiteland, stepchildren: Amy Johnson of Plainfield, Brian (Renee) Mink of Indianapolis; siblings: Gale (Joan) Smith of Avon, Rondal (Gloria) Smith and Katrina White both of Indianapolis. He is also survived by his step grandchildren, God Granddaughter, Breeanna, several nieces and nephews and his faithful, four legged companion Skittles.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents and brother Randy Smith.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13th at the First Christian Church of Morgantown: 2717 South Morgantown Rd in Morgantown. Friends may call on Friday, July 12th from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 p.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
