Mr. Stanley L. "Stan" Harris

Stanley L. ‘Stan' Harris, age 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2019 at his home in Bargersville.

He was born September 7, 1950, in Franklin, to his parents, the late Leon A. and Betty (Keaton) Harris. Stan was a 1968 graduate of Center Grove High School and went on to attend college in Kentucky. He served as a Staff Sergeant with the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1976.

Stan had a 40 year career in construction; most recently retiring in 2010 from Edwards-Rigdon Construction Company in Danville as a Superintendent after 18 years of service. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 301 in Greenwood, the National Rifle Association and the National Skeet Shooting Association.

He enjoyed skeet shooting, riding his motorcycle and caring for his dog, Peyton. Stan was an avid reader of mysteries and sci-fi books. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts.

Stan is survived by his son, Seth (Joanna) Harris of Bargersville; siblings, Becky (Phil) Harris of Nashville, Perry (Linda) Harris of Indianapolis and Mike (Rebecca) Harris of Schererville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards and the United States Air Force.
