Mary K. (Sisson) Meadows

Mary K. (Sisson) Meadows, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 14, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Nashville. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Indianapolis.

Mary was born on August 16, 1928 in Brown County to her parents, the late Otis and Murriel (Parker) Sisson. She was a graduate of Helmsburg High School. Mary retired from Indiana Bell where she worked as a telephone operator for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death on February 8, 1998 by her loving husband of 51 years, Charles O. ‘Bud’ Meadows, whom she married on February 9, 1946 in Indianapolis. Mary was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Hughes; son in laws, Thomas R. Haapala and Wesley ‘Hank’ Stroud.

She is survived by her daughters, Charlyn Stroud of Litha Springs, GA and Brenda Haapala of Brown County; grandchildren, Holly Ann McCash of Brown County, April (Randall Hutchins) Hicks of Georgia County, Amy (Ken) Henkel of Georgia, Dawn Sholders of Brown County, Alisa (David) Tucker of Georgia and Thomas C. (Katie) Haapala of Plainfield; great grandchildren, Ashley Price, Melanie Rose McCash, Angela B. Sholders, Emily K. Sholders, Zara Hurst, Stacie Kammerling, Kassie Leigh Rose Haapala, Madison Nicole Haapala, Austin Denley, Amber Denley, Jackson Henkel, Kaley Hutchins, Charley K. Tucker and Clark Tucker; great-great grandchildren, Logan, Aiden, Kira, Robin, Theodore, Christiana, Emma Rose and Ellie.

Mary enjoyed visiting casinos, playing Bingo, traveling and square dancing. She was very proud of her five generations of family and loved them all very dearly.    

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at noon at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
