Mark David Lory

Mark David Lory, age 80 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 6, 2021 at IU Health – Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Morgantown.

Mark was born September 27, 1940 in Martinsville to his parents, the late Henry and Evelyn (Bray) Lory. He was a 1958 graduate of Morgantown High School. Mark was a Master Plumber who owned and operated, Lory and Son Plumbing & Heating for the past 36 years.   

He was a lifetime member of the Morgantown Baptist Church, where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and a Deacon. Mark enjoyed the outdoors by camping, fishing and playing golf with family and friends. He was a fan of Indiana University Men’s Basketball and Football, as well as, the Indianapolis Colts. Mark enjoyed tending to his yard and caring for his beloved dog, Romeo. He will be remembered by his family as being a wonderful husband, dad, papaw and great papaw.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda J. (Poore) Lory, whom he married on July 10, 1960 at the Morgantown Baptist Church. He is also survived by his children, Marlinda ‘Mindy’ Williams of Whiteland, Monty (Paula) Lory of Brown County and Meleah ‘Mea’ (Jeremy) Farris of Morgantown; sister, Noreen (James T.) Baird of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Zach (Kate) Williams of Layfette, Wes (Bethany Sammons) Williams of Bloomington, Logan Williams of Whiteland, Laney Sue Lory of Brown County, Brooke Nicole (Matt) Ogles of Trafalgar, Karissa (Kyle) Seward of Bloomington, and Jayden & Jozie Farris, both of Morgantown; great grandchildren, Lenna, James, Kayden, Madison, Kalan and Isabella.  

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lynne Allen, Susanne Brooks and Frank Lory.

The Rev. Brett Baird will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
