Mark Erehart Obituary

Mark D. Erehart, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was a former resident of Anderson, Jackson, Mississippi, Lake Lemon and most recently of Bloomington.

Mark was born May 15, 1936, in Anderson, to his parents, the late Archie D. and Mary (Herzog) Erehart. Mark was a 1954 graduate of Anderson High School and went on to earn his Mechanical Engineering Degree from GMI in Flint, Michigan and later earned his MBA from Ball State University.  While in school, he married the love his live, Donna VanCamp on April 4, 1959 in Anderson. She lovingly survives after 63 devoted years of marriage.

Mark worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Delco Remy in Anderson until his retirement in 1990. After retirement, Mark and Donna moved to Mississippi and he worked for the Jefferson Davis Plant in Madison, for roughly 5 years before moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he continued to work in the automotive industry.

Mark served as the Board President for St. John’s Hospital in Anderson as well as the President of the board for the Anderson Country Club. He was a member of the Cottonwood Christian Church in Morgantown and led several group bible studies. Mark enjoyed being in the outdoors by golfing and spending time on his boat on Lake Lemon. Mark was an avid reader, enjoyed woodworking and always had a project to work on. He will be remembered most for his love of family as well as his encouraging and kind hearted nature.

He will be missed by his wife, Donna; children, Pastor Don (Anne) Erehart of St. Louis Missouri, Stephen (Susan) Erehart of Raleigh, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kaiti Erehart of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Elisa “Ellie” (Joey) Riedle of St. Louis, Missouri, Payne Erehart of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sam Erehart and Emma Erehart both of Raleigh, North Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Ann Erehart.

Pastor Darrel Miller will conduct a funeral service at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th at Cottonwood Christian Church 2523 W. Cottonwood Road in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
