Marie V. (Northern) Weddle

Marie V. (Northern) Weddle age 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, September 3, 2020 at Otterbein SeniorLife Community in Franklin.  She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Marie was born December 24, 1921 in Martinsville, to her parents, the late Chris and Roxie Alta (Badgley) Northern. She married Lester F. Weddle on June 15, 1938 in Martinsville. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2003 after 65 loving years of marriage.

Marie was also preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis M. Pennybaker; and siblings Julia Asher and Wendall Northern.

She is survived by her sons, James L. (Betty) Weddle of Franklin, Lennis L. (Sara) Weddle of Trafalgar and Kenneth E. (Sharon) Weddle of Paris, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren

Marie was a homemaker and found great pleasure in working beside her husband on the family farm, helping to raise cattle, hogs and their crops before they both retired in 1980. She was a devoted 74-year member of the Amity Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and held the position of Church Clerk for many years. Marie was a devoted Christian and felt blessed to have her family and their life on the farm. Many were influenced through her Christian faith and she said "If I've ever done anything good, anything right, it's because God used me.” Friends, neighbors & her church family were often invited for family dinners on the farm; where many stories were shared and memories were made throughout the years. Marie and her husband began the yearly “Weddle Reunion” and hosted it for many years on their farm. Marie was also a member of the Good Sam Camping Club for over 10 years.

She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, fishing and making crafts. Marie was known as an excellent seamstress.

Rev. Doug Weddle and Chaplain Perry Anderson will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. To reduce the spread of COVID-19 and follow the mandate by the Governor of Indiana, all visitors will be required to provide and wear their own face covering and maintain social distancing.
