Marie (Sichting) Housand

Marie (Sichting) Housand, age 104, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 26, 2021 at The Waters of Martinsville.  She was a resident of Morgantown.

Marie was born on November 5, 1916 in Morgan County, to her parents, the late James E. and Rosetta (Sanders) Sichting. She married John E. Housand on August 28, 1943 in Indianapolis.  He preceded her in death on October 2, 1998 after 55 loving years of marriage. Marie was also preceded in death by siblings, Frances, Lloyd, Lester, Dale, Wilber & Dean Sichting and Lois Carl.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Carla) Housand of Morgantown and Steven (Karen) Housand of Whiteland; siblings, Victor Sichting, Paul (Alice) Sichting and Harold (JoAnn) Sichting, all of Martinsville; grandchildren, Matthew (Kala) Housand of Greenwood, Kevin Housand of Morgantown, Jimmy (Melissa) Wilkerson of Bargersville, Erin (Matthew) McCrory of Morgantown and Christy Osborn of Whiteland, and seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Marie was a loving housewife and mother. She worked for Diamond Chain in Indianapolis during World War II and later at JC Penney. Marie was a member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church and attended the Christian Church in Hall. Other memberships include the Morgan County Homemakers Club and the Mooresville Eastern Star #260, where she was a 50-year member.

Marie loved spending time with her family and enjoyed watching her great grandchildren play softball. She also enjoyed playing cards and was a loyal fan of the Wheel of Fortune game show on television.

A private family inurnment will take place at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville. Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
