Margoria Cooper Obituary

Margoria Helen ‘Margie’ (Copas) Cooper, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday        afternoon, January 22, 2020 at her home in Nashville.

Margie was born to Adolphis 'Doc' and Mildred (White) Copas in their country home in Mud Lick, Kentucky on March 22, 1940, where she lived until the age of ten when she moved to Indiana.  The Copas family moved between Indiana and Kentucky a number of times.  She was a 1958 graduate of Austin-Tracy High School in Lucas, Kentucky.

Margie was employed for 19 years as the Manager of the Cost Analyst Department with Duke Energy in Plainfield, retiring in August of 1994.  She was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour books and enjoyed watching Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and other police detective series.   Margie had a collection of cookbooks, loved cooking for her family and was known for her homemade spaghetti.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved taking care of and spending time with her family.  Margie also loved to shop and especially enjoyed a good sale wherever she could find one.

Margie was a resident of Avon for 25 years before moving to Brown County with her husband, Delbert 'Gene' Cooper Sr. in 1995.  She married "The Best Guy in the World" on August 19, 1962 in Indianapolis.  They enjoyed vacationing in Florida throughout their 57 years together.

Margie was a member of the Bean Blossom Baptist Church, former member of the Electrical Engineers Organization and served as Past President of the Brownsburg Jane C's.  She also supported her husband's involvement as a Shriner in the Indianapolis Murat since 2008.

Cherishing her memory is her husband, Gene Cooper; son, Delbert Gene Cooper Jr. of Clayton; siblings, Arnold Dow (Betty) Copas of Scottsville, KY and Roger Dale Copas of Whitestown, TN; grandsons, Zachary Stucker & Samuel Stucker; granddaughters, Sarah Stucker and Alysha Pitman; foster grandson Adam Sowers; and great grandchildren, Lily & Noah Sowers.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lisa Dyan Cooper; and siblings, Doris Ming & Freida Crowe.

The Rev. James Brown will conduct a funeral service at 1 pm on Monday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may visit from 11 am until service time. Margie will be buried beside her daughter at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
