Malcolm 'Buz' C. Baird

Malcolm C. ‘Buz’ Baird, age 72 passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 26, 2023 at IU Health Methodist in Indianapolis. He was a longtime resident of Morgantown.

Buz was born October 25, 1950 in Indianapolis, to his parents, the late Alfred R. “Bud’ and Susan (Peats) Baird. He was a 1969 graduate of Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar. Buz retired from General Motors Truck and Bus Plant in Indianapolis, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring as the Foreman of the Maintenance Department. Buz was a former member of the UAW Local 23 in Indianapolis.

He enjoyed camping at Lake Lemon, boating at Dale Hollow in Tennessee and fishing with his grandson in Florida. Buz was a fan of crime shows on television.

He is survived by his children, Branden (Heidi) Baird of Palm City, FL, Michelle (Darren) Asher of Port St. Lucie, FL & Cheyene Jackson of Morgantown; siblings, Kitty Hamilton of Florida, Tamara Wampler of Bloomington & Mike (Karen) Baird of Greenwood; grandchildren, Jospeh Baird of Palm City, FL, Delaney Asher of Port St. Lucie, FL, Gracie Jackson, Zain Hester and Ian Hester all of Morgantown.

Buz was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Teddy Sichting and Fred Wampler.

A Celebration of Buz’s Life will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
