Lieselotte “Lottie” (Hess) Purdue, age 79, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 24, 2020 at Bloomington Hospital. She was a long time resident of Unionville.
Lottie was born on October 6, 1940 in Bad Neuhein, Germany to her parents the late Wilhelm and Babetta (Miller) Hess. She graduated in 1958 from Volkssheute in Bad Nauheim, Germany. She married Wilbert A. Purdue Jr. on September 12, 1959 and together they raised 2 children. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1996 after 37 loving years of marriage.
Lottie retired in 2010 as an Assembler for Harman Motive after 15+ years of service. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Lottie enjoyed boating on Lake Lemon and was a member of the local Ruptured Duck Club. She loved dancing competitively in both square and jive with her husband Wilbert. Together they won many competitions. Lottie also enjoyed entertaining and would throw bean dinner get-togethers for friends and family.
She will be missed by her son: Curtis (Carol) Purdue of Greenville, South Carolina, daughter: Lisa (Bill) Craig of Terre Haute, siblings; Imgard Ristau, Reinhold Hess, Harald Hess all of Germany; grandchildren: Jeremy (Anna) Purdue and Luke Andrew Craig, great-granddaughter: Nikki Purdue, several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Cheryl (William) Priddy.
Lottie was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter; Amanda Sue Purdue.
A private graveside service will be held at Bridge Church Cemetery in Unionville. Funeral Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
