Leslie Sanders Obituary

Leslie 'Marlowe' Sanders, age 88 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Grand Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville.  He was a resident of Brown County.

Marlowe was born February 21, 1933 in Indianapolis, to his parents, the late Leslie Joseph and Marvel E. (Wesen) Sanders. He was a 1952 graduate of Helmsburg High School and went on to serve as a Corporal with the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Marlowe retired in 1995 from Johnson Memorial Hospital where he worked in the Maintenance Department for over 19 years. He also retired from owning and operating the Sanders Family Farm in Brown County. Prior to that, he worked at Western Electric in Indianapolis.

Marlowe was a member of The Pentecostals Church in Nashville and a former 40-year member of the First Apostolic Church in Morgantown. He enjoyed reading his Bible, working on his farm and tending to his vegetable garden. Marlowe loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and his cattle.

Marlowe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lois M. (Porter) Sanders, whom he married on December 3. 1955 at the Sprunica Church in Brown County. He is also survived by his children, Dennis (Debra) Sanders, Roy (Sherri) Sanders and Terry Sanders all of Brown County; brother, Richard Sanders of Brown County; daughter-in-law, Pam Sanders of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren.

Marlowe was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marvin Sanders; siblings, Napoleon Sanders, Myrtis Beck, Delores Keller and Edith Mae Neal; daughter-in-law, Teresa Sanders; and great grandsons, Dylan Sanders &Tyler Wilkinson.

Pastor Charles Wright will conduct a funeral service on Monday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Weeping Willow Cemetery in Bean Blossom with Military Rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard and the United States Army.
