Leanna Mae (Bennett) Dunn

Leanna Mae (Bennett) Dunn, age 80 passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2023 at her home in Indianapolis surrounded by her loving family.

Leanna was born November 12, 1942 in Indianapolis, to her parents, the late Delbert and Gladys (Pleak) Bennett. She was a 1960 graduate of George Washington High School. Leanna retired in 2018 from JoAnn Fabrics in Greenwood where she worked as a Sales Associate for over 15 years. Prior to that, she held the same position for Sears in Greenwood for several years. Leanna was a devoted member of the Smith Valley United Methodist Church in Greenwood.

She will be remembered for being an expert seamstress. Leanna loved making special pieces of clothing for family and friends. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, listening to music while working puzzles and loved spending time with her children, especially her grandchildren. Leanna always cheered for them in the stands of their sporting events or special ceremonies, like graduation. She enjoyed going to church with her brothers every Sunday, followed by eating at one of their favorite restaurants. The beach was her favorite place to be, and was recently able to visit the beach with her daughter and granddaughter.

Leanna is survived by her children, Scott (Maria) Dunn of Indianapolis, Pamela (Michael) Ward of Coal City and Beth (Troy) DeHart of Trafalgar; siblings, Delbert Eugene Bennett, David Bennett and William (Linda) Bennett all of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jeff (Mackenzie) Dunn, Joel Dunn, Luke (Mary) DeHart, Emma DeHart, Lily DeHart, Jake Ward, Jessie Ward, Ali (Joel) Aceves and Rilee Norman; great grandchildren, Damien and Mila Aceves.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pastor Jennifer Lewis will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Smith Valley United Methodist Church, 5293 Old Smith Valley Road in Greenwood. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
