Joanne J. (Potts) Frye

Joanne J. (Potts) Frye, age 86 passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, May 9, 2023 at Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Morgantown and a former resident of Brown County.

Joanne was born September 26, 1936 in Austin, Indiana to her parents, the late Thomas A. and Ella Mae (Stiverson) Potts. She attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis and went on to retire in 1987 from Safeway Grocery Store in Texas, where she worked as a Clerk.

Joanne was a member of the Nashville Christian Church and enjoyed helping in many capacities at the church. She also enjoyed shopping, scrapbooking and sewing clothes for her grandchildren. She loved her dogs, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.  

Joanne is survived by her children, Rosella J. Bogstad of Indianapolis, Kenneth C. Smith of Dayton, Texas, Debbie (Matthew) Hogue of Trafalgar and Craig A. Smith (Paula Coleman) of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Michael Lee Reddick, Aaron Christopher Reddick, Paul Eugene Linville, Kelly Christina Linville, Kenneth Calvin Smith II, Kristina Smith, Tabitha Crosby, Larry Dean Adams II and Tressa Coleman and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Frye; daughter-in-law, Jerri Smith and eleven siblings, Ruby Prudy, Alice Akers, Betty Vanderbuilt, Mary Justice, Margaret Trueblood, Frances Springman, William, Dale, Joe, Dean and Ed Potts.

Friends and family are welcome to gather and Celebrate Joanne’s Life on Saturday, May 27th beginning at 12 p.m. at 4504 W. 700 S. in Trafalgar. Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown. A private family inurnment was held at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
