Jerry R. Richhart

Jerry R. Richhart, age 66, passed away Monday evening, November 9, 2020 at his home in Spearsville.

Jerry was born November 14, 1953, in Franklin, to Forrest W. and Helen M. (Ellett) Richhart.  He attended Brown County High School and later married Nancy Hildebrand on March 24, 1978 in Spearsville. She preceded him in death in July of 1995 after 17 loving years of marriage.

Jerry worked as a mechanic for the Brown County Highway Department and was a construction operator for various companies for over 30 years, retiring in 2008.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103 in Indianapolis and a member of the Spearsville Church of Christ. Jerry loved to travel to South Dakota and spend time in the Black Hills. He enjoyed telling life stories, even at his own expense, because he always wanted to make others laugh. Jerry will be remembered for his ability to make people smile and for his kind and giving nature.

Jerry will be missed by his children: Wendy (Kendall) Harshman of Franklin, Eric (Megan) Richhart of Mooresville and Chris Richhart of Spearsville, his mother: Helen M. Richhart of Spearsville, grandchildren: Meagan, Allyson, Zachary, Devon, Kira and Jarrett; siblings: Forrest “Mike” (Connie) Richhart of Morgantown, Linda (Larry) Collins, William “Bill” (Roxanna) Richhart, and Timothy “Tim” (Beth) Richhart all of Spearsville as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by an infant son Bradley, father Forrest, wife Nancy and honorary brother Ronnie.

The family will hold a private graveside service on Jerry’s birthday at the Spearville Church of Christ Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held this coming spring. Services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
