Janice 'Jan' E. (Grubb) Piccione

Janice E. ‘Jan’ (Grubb) Piccione, age 80 passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 18, 2023 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Jan was born November 9, 1942 in Beech Grove to her parents, the late William and Jean (Dexter) Grubb. She was a 1960 graduate of Beech Grove High School. Jan retired in 2011 from the Johnson County Recorder’s Office after 30 years of service.

She was a devoted member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Trafalgar, where she was active in the Choir and Ladies Aid. Jan was also active volunteering at the Johnson County Senior Center. She enjoyed reading her Bible, traveling and caring for her cat, ‘Sammie’. Jan also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a fan of IU Men’s Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.

Jan is survived by her children, Teresa Ingle of Trafalgar, Tina (David) Burgett of Greenwood, Lisa (Brian Thomas) Hamilton of Whiteland & Tony (Kim) Piccione of Martinsville; siblings, Donna (Jim) Jessee of Nineveh, Darlene (Jim) Witt of Whiteland, Marilyn Grubb & Darrell Grubb both of Beech Grove; grandchildren, Heather (Zach) Burgett of Whiteland, Hannah (John) Kegley of Nineveh, Jessica (Kevin) Blackwell of Nineveh, Joseph (Cheyenne) Hamilton of Greenwood, Justin Pattengale of Trafalgar, Devin (Jennifer) Piccione of Trafalgar & Mya Piccione of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Sadie Blackwell, Callie Blackwell, Harper Hamilton, Rhett Kegley and Blake Kegley.  

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Joseph A. ‘Joe’ Piccione, whom she married on April 16, 1964 in Beech Grove. Jan was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Grubb; and a son in law, Bernie Ingle.

The Rev. Cleon Wright will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Christian Church Cemetery in Trafalgar.
