Irene Hannah Obituary

Irene Hannah, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Morgantown Healthcare Inn in Indiana. She was a former resident Alabama.

Irene was born February 20, 1942 in Gordo, Alabama to her parents, the late Isaac “Paul” and Essie L. Hannah. She was a graduate of Gordo High School in Alabama and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at IUPUI in Indianapolis.

Irene was extremely devoted to her career. She worked as a Director of Finance for public housing in Washington DC and in Indianapolis. Irene also worked as Deputy Director in public housing in Detroit where she served as an Interim Executive Director for a short time. Irene later finished her career with the Department of Homeland Security in Baltimore. She will be remembered most for her driven mindset and her magical charisma.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Darlene Elmore; well-loved partner of 28 years, Dom Jervis; siblings, Patsy (Kenny) Harless, Dorothy (VJ) Jackson, Dian (Kenneth) Elmore, Randy (Vickie) Hannah, Richard Hannah, and Sandra (Phillip) Harris; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Janice “Dion” Elmore and a sister, Carolyn Dial. 

In keeping Irene’s wishes, she will be cremated. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown, Indiana.
