Ida L. (Knapp) Stump

Ida L. (Knapp) Stump, age 73 passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, October 22, 2021 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.  She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Ida was born January 15, 1948 in Franklin to her parents, the late Arnold D. and Helen E. (Graves) Knapp. She attended Trafalgar High School and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ida was previously employed as a production worker at Musicland Distribution Center in Franklin. She also worked for the grounds crew for Center Grove Schools and at the Frosty Queen in Trafalgar.

She was a member of the Great Hope Separate Baptist Church in Franklin. Ida enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, feeding and watching the birds, reading her Bible and caring for her dog, Bo. She will be remembered for her excellent baking and cooking, especially, her chicken n’ dumplings, meatloaf, bake beans and applesauce cake. Ida loved her family dearly and will be missed by all those who loved her.

Ida is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Melville ‘Jim’ Stump, whom she married on June 24, 1967 at the Trafalgar Christian Church. She is also survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Asher of Franklin, Donna (Jimmy) Bowman of Trafalgar and Chrissie (Erick) Chestnet of Martinsville; grandchildren, Jeremy Cook of Franklin, Tyler Bowman of Indianapolis, Nathan Bowman of Franklin, Sadie Mendenhall of Indianapolis, Reis Chestnet, Brock Chestnet and Bryce Chestnet, all of Martinsville; great grandchildren, Ivy, Skye, Hazel, Eden, Raelynn, Teagan and Liam; siblings, Donald Knapp of Helmsburg, Dennis Knapp of Trafalgar, Diane (William) Denny Indianapolis and David Knapp of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Michael, Danny Lee, Robert ‘Bobby’ and Max Knapp.

The Rev. Ed Tharpe will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin.
