Helen M. (Ellett) Richhart

Helen M. (Ellett) Richhart, age 93 passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 2, 2023 at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was a resident of Spearsville.

Helen was born November 23, 1929 in Franklin, to her parents, the late James Fred and Pearl Mae (Smith) Ellett. She attended Trafalgar High School. Helen was a devoted wife and homemaker who formerly worked at the FFA Center as a Cook and as the Senior Center Director at Hickory Ridge in Brown County.

She was a longtime member of the Spearsville Church of Christ and the Domestic Dolly’s in Brown County. Helen enjoyed working puzzles, listening to Christian music and was an avid reader of the Bible. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking and baking, especially her peach cobbler. Helen loved having family gatherings and will be missed by all who loved her.

Helen was preceded in death on December 20, 1981 by her loving husband of 34 years, Forrest W. Richhart, whom she married on November 8, 1947. Helen was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Richhart; and a grandson, Bradley Richhart.

Helen is survived by her children, Mike (Connie) Richhart of Morgantown, Linda (Larry) Collins, Bill (Roxanna) Richhart & Tim (Beth) Richhart all of Spearsville; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren & five great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces & nephews.    

Pastor Mike Goodwin will conduct a funeral service at noon on Saturday at the Spearsville Church of Christ, 9330 Spearsville Road in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Spearsville Church of Christ Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
