George L. Scott, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, December 10, 2021 at his home in Brown County.
He was born October 17, 1942 in Jamestown, Tennessee. George retired in 2004 from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis where he worked as a Grinder Operator for over 42 years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #1111 in Indianapolis.
Since 1987, George’s true passion was Mud Bogging. Since then, he competed in many county and state fairs for the last 34 years, wining several trophies. He enjoyed working on his mud bogging trucks and was a fan of wresting and the television show, Gold Rush.
George was preceded in death on September 17, 2008 by his loving wife of 40 years, Louise (Smith) Scott, whom he married on June 22, 1968 in Indianapolis. He was also preceded in death by his father, Elmer Scott; mother, Bertha (Beaty) Atkins; sons, Donald Scott and Michael Osborn; grandchildren, Jason and Kelly Osborn; siblings, Tommy and Marybelle Scott.
George is survived by his children, Allen (Tina) Scott of Madison, Teresa Smith of Franklin, Steve Osborn and Brian (Barbara) Osborn, both of Nashville; companion, Lois Mills of Brown County; first wife, Wilma Jodrey of Madison; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. on at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Weeping Willow Cemetery in Brown County.
