George grew up in Broad Ripple and was on the 1956 Championship football team. He passed the love of this sport onto his grandson, Christopher Massaro, who played center for the University of Indianapolis in 2015. This made football one of his favorite past times, especially if the San Francisco 49ers were playing. George loved being on the water, whether he was jet skiing in his younger days, fishing on the beaches of Gulf Shores or just boating on Lake Lemon during his retirement years. George also enjoyed deer hunting, wood working and operating a front-end loader.
