Gary J. Giesting

Gary J. Giesting, age 76, passed away Monday evening, January 11, 2021 at Meadow Lakes Nursing Assisted Living Community in Mooresville. He was a resident of Martinsville.

Gary was born November 10, 1944 in Batesville to his parents, the late Frank and Opal (Hickman) Giesting. He was a graduate of Batesville High School and went on to serve as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class with the United States Navy from 1964 to 1967. Gary was retired from the Slippery Noodle Inn in Indianapolis where he worked as the Kitchen Manager.

He enjoyed woodworking, traveling out west with his wife, Deborah and was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning. Gary also enjoyed collecting wooden ducks and glass decanters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Deborah K. (Ridner) Giesting, whom he married on October 10, 1981 in Batesville. Gary is also survived by his children, Shelley Giesting and Bill Giesting, both of Indianapolis; sister, Mary Kay (Harry) Hacker of Batesville; and grandchildren, Madyson Giesting and Tyler Giesting.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn (Steinkamp) Giesting; son, Ryan Giesting; and siblings, Gordon Giesting and Rick Bloemer.

In keeping with Gary’s wishes, he will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 15th at Pleasant Grove Christian Church: 6601 Maple Grove Rd, in Martinsville. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
