Edna G. (Chumbley) Baugh, age 91, passed away Thursday morning, March 12, 2020 at the Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Trafalgar.
Edna was born June 7, 1928, in Somerset, KY, to the late George Brittan and Clara Ethel (Maupin) Chumbley. She married Ira V. Baugh on November 3, 1943 in Somerset, KY. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2003 after 60 loving and devoted years of marriage.
Edna grew up in Somerset & fondly remembered her days of going to school in the one room school house that joined her father's 70-acre farm. She also recalled her days and working in the farm fields and among the walnut trees on the family farm. As a newlywed, she boarded a train and lived in Alabama for a short time while her husband attended basic training for his military service in the United States Army. Edna worked part time as a Retail Clerk in her early years in local five & dime stores in both Alabama and Somerset, KY. Edna and her husband moved to Indiana in 1953. She was a housewife and a hardworking mother raising five children. Edna later worked as a Nurses Aid at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
Edna was a loving mother and will be missed by her children, Tammara Baugh of Greenwood, Ann (Barry) King of Nineveh, Perry (Stella) Baugh of Martinsville and Danny Baugh of Edinburgh; brother, Jesse Chumbley of Arizona; grandchildren, John Baugh of Franklin, April Benton of Kentucky, Kevin (Heather) Baugh of Greenwood, Melissa "Missy" Baugh of Martinsville, Peter (Monica) Baugh of Greenwood, Nathan (Angelica) Baugh of Greenwood, Britton Baugh of Kentucky, Bradley "Brad" Baugh of Martinsville, Jason Baugh of Greenwood, Andrea Lynn Sapp of Greenwood, Kevin Charles Sapp, Jr. of Nineveh, Jennifer (Tim) Wheat of Edinburgh, Monica King of Nineveh and Dwayne King of Greenfield; several great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Baugh; brothers, Carthel, Laurence, Ray, Lorell, Winford & Vertrees Chumbley; and sisters, Lillian Bradley, Pauline Haste & Elsie Stevens.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lick Springs Cemetery in Trafalgar.
