Dorothy Kay (Douglas) Scott, age 39, passed away all too soon as a result of a car accident on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. She was a resident of Helmsburg.
Dorothy was born April 9, 1982, in Franklin to her parents Martin L. and Brenda K. (Riddle) Douglas. She attended Brown County High School and was working for Carlisle & Sons in Trafalgar in their accounts receivable department. On the weekends Dorothy would work part-time as a cook at McDonald’s in Nashville. Prior to that she worked at Hard Truth Hills as cook.
Dorothy loved to fish and spend time with her family. She will be remembered most for her heart of gold, her ability to make people laugh and desire to help others in need.
Dorothy is survived by her wife of 6 years, Loretta (Packer) Scott, whom she married on June 5, 2015. She will also be missed by her children: Seth Aaron Scott, Nikki Harden and Ethan Harden all of Brown County, parents, Martin L. & Brenda K. Douglas Sr. of Brown County; brother, Russ (Autumn) Scott of Bloomington; sister-in-law: Alyssa Douglas of Brown County, paternal grandmother, Mary Ann (Dick) McCory of Nineveh; in-laws, Bill & Cindy Packer of Helmsburg; aunts, Zelda Cheek of Montana & Joy Sipe of Beech Grove; uncles, Jerry (Sharon) Riddle of Greenwood & Steve (Val) Douglas of Columbus; nieces & nephews: Kaylynn, Joey, & Skylar Douglas; cousins: Luke & Alex Cheek, Serina Scott, Steve & Aleesha Cheek, Scott (Kyle) Riddle, Marlena Cheek, Brandon (Kenzie) Cheek, Kaitlynn (Carl) Beardsley, Ethan & Easton Riddle, Kevin Sipe and Rachel (Daniel) Barnes as well as several other cousins; and she will also be missed by special friend, Jim Ackerman and his family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Martin L. ‘Marty’ Douglas Jr.; maternal grandparents, Wilbern & Dorothy Riddle; and paternal grandfather, Virgil Douglas and an uncle Steve Cheek I.
Friends and family are welcome to a visitation on Wednesday, September 8th from 4-8 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.
