Doris L. Richardson

Doris L. Richardson, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, February 6, 2020 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.  She was a resident of Greenwood.

Doris was born May 13, 1931 in Morgantown, to her parents, the late Ralph E. and Ivy (Whitaker) Richardson. She was a 1949 graduate of Trafalgar High School. After graduation, she went on work for the United States Army in the finance division and transferred to the security clearance division, eventually moving onto Veterans Administration in Indianapolis, where she retired as an Assistant Finance Officer in 1986. 

Doris was a 50 year member of the Morgantown and later Franklin Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gambling and traveling, especially enjoying the sites of Reno, Nevada. Doris also enjoyed working part-time in her mother’s restaurant “Ivy’s Snack Bar”, located in Morgantown, where she spent time baking and making homemade candies and fudge.

Doris is survived by a niece, Katrina Kelso (Henry King) of Indianapolis; nephews, R. Wesley Richardson Jr. of Indianapolis, Terry Waltz of Trafalgar and Daryle (Donna) Tabor of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Ralph Wesley Richardson Sr., Shirley Waltz and Esther Anderson.

Rev. Joseph Rautenberg will conduct a funeral service on Monday, February 17th at noon at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. A memorial service by the Order of the Eastern Star will take place prior to funeral service on Monday. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
