Dora I. (Pursell) Murphy

Dora I. (Pursell) Murphy, age 87 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 14, 2023 at her home in Fruitdale.

She was born on March 20, 1935, in Monroe County, to her parents, the late Ray and Hazel (Baker) Pursell. She was married to Charles W. Murphy, who preceded her in death on October 9, 1986, after many years of marriage. Dora was also preceded in death by her eight siblings.

She is survived by her children, Linda Fertic of New Mexico, Ila McCoy of Brown County, Estel “Bud” Murphy of Brown County, and Charles Murphy of Florida; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Dora loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Together they enjoyed playing Chinese checkers, Yahtzee, and many different card games. Dora was an avid Colts fan, enjoyed trips to the casino, as well as watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking and her famous homemade apple butter.

In keeping with Dora’s wishes, she will be cremated. Cremations services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home and Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
