Donald F. “Termite” Hayworth, age 87, passed away Friday evening, January 31, 2020 at his home in Brown County.
Don was born October 14, 1932, in Indianapolis, to his parents, the late Stephen F. and Katherine (Sims) Hayworth. He was a 1952 graduate of Helmsburg High School and went on to serve as a Private First Class with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Don retired in 1987 from General Motors Truck & Bus Plant in Indianapolis where he worked as a Laborer and was a member of the United Autos Worker Union, Local 23 in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Cottonwood Christian Church in Brown County, the VFW and American Legion.
On June 11, 1955, Don married LaDonna Mae Long in Morgantown. She preceded him in death on October 13, 2018 after 63 loving years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bryan Hayworth; sister, Barbara Hayworth; and grandchildren, Eric Kirby and Melissa Hayworth.
Don is survived by his children, Lowell (Amanda) Hayworth, Kevin (Dian) Hayworth and Darrell (Beth) Hayworth, all of Brown County and Jessica (Jason) Hounshell of Columbus; siblings, Max (Betty) Hayworth of Morgantown, Jack (Nancy) Hayworth of Bargersville and David (Victoria) Hayworth of Morgantown; and several wonderful grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family and going out to eat with family and friends, with Cracker Barrel being his restaurant of choice. Don also enjoyed camping with grandchildren and working crossword puzzles.
The Rev. Darrell Miller will conduct a memorial service on Friday at 7 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Military honors will be presented by the Brown County Honor Guard and the United States Army.
