Donald E. Hamilton, age 82, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, December 15, 2019 at the IU Health & Hospice House in Bloomington. He was a resident of Unionville.
Don was born March 4, 1937 in Fitch, Kentucky, to his parents, the late Mosa and Cora (Masters) Hamilton.
He retired in 1982 from the Chrysler Automotive in New Castle where he worked as a Blacksmith for 18 years. Later, Don worked in the parts department for Master-Halco in Indianapolis, retiring full time in 2003.
Don was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nashville and a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He enjoyed the outdoors by hunting, fishing and riding horses. Don also enjoyed reading his Bible, photography and caring for his dogs, Della Mae, Buckaroo and Maggie. Don was very talented with pencil art, oil painting and writing. He will be remembered for being a dreamer who was also looking for that next best thing in life.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elizabeth Ann (Overstreet) Hamilton, whom Donald married on July 23, 1988 in Indianapolis. Don is also survived by his children, Tonya Stearns of Rushville, Trudy (Michael) Heller of Carthage and Tony (Terri) Hamilton of Carmel; brother, Gilbert Hamilton of Ohio; and 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughters, Treva Hamilton and Tambra Marcum; son, Timothy Hamilton; siblings, Shirley Sue Hamilton, Gary Hamilton and Patricia Boggs; and a granddaughter, Heather McGlothin.
A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
