Dillard Pierce Obituary

Dillard Pierce, age 86 passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 26, 2021 at his home in Martinsville.

Dillard was born May 2, 1934 in Greensburg, Kentucky to his parents, the late Corby and Bertha (Vanarsdale) Pierce. He worked as a Tree Trimmer, clearing the path for the lineman for Bartholomew County REMC for several years until his retirement in the 1980’s.

Dillard was a member of the Morgantown General Assembly and Church of the First Born. He enjoyed hunting deer and squirrel with his bow, muzzle loader and shotgun. He loved listening to the Lone Ranger on the radio and enjoyed spending his free time in the outdoors. Dillard loved his chainsaw and started trimming trees at work, at home and for his friends.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Kathy L. (Ridgeway) Pierce, whom he married on February 9, 2002 in Martinsville. He is also survived by his sons, Kent D. (Lois) Pierce of Gatesville and Leon Pierce of Greensburg, Kentucky; stepsons, Jim Schroll of Anderson, Tony Schroll of Clearwater, FL and Michael Schroll of Indianapolis; grandson Matthew Schroll of North Judson; and sister Virginia (Don) Howard of Louisville, Kentucky.

Dillard was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Orphellia Pierce, second wife Emma Pierce and siblings Castile, Howard, Burford, Ruby, Wiltamae, Margaret, Cozetta, Pansy, Alice and his twin brother Lillard.

Bro. Rodger Bunch will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. All guests attending visitation and/or services will be required to wear a mask at all times in an effort to promote a safe environment.
