Denton O. White, age 80, passed away on Thursday morning, November 9, 2023 at his home in Morgantown.
Denton was born June 11, 1943 in Dubree, Kentucky to his parents, the late Brad E. and Lovy Grove (Muse) White. He attended school in Marrowbone, Kentucky and went on to retire as a Crane Operator from General Motors Truck & Bus Plant in Indianapolis after 33 years of service.
Denton was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 23 in Indianapolis and the Morgantown Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, as well as copperhead & rattle snake hunting. Denton also enjoyed playing euchre and was a fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. He will be truly missed by his family and close friends whom he loved dearly.
Denton was preceded in death on May 11, 2010 by his first wife, Cherry Darlene (Thompson) White, whom he married on October 17, 1964 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. He was also preceded in death by a son, Denton W. “Danny” White on September 1, 2015; and several siblings.
Denton is survived by his wife, Joan P. “Joanie” (Pickett) Harmon-White whom he married on January 19, 2016 in Venice, Florida. He is also survived by his daughter, Darla S. (Darrell) Turner of Spencer; sister, Joyce Muse of Marrowbone, KY; grandchildren, Cody Turner of Spencer, Dallas O. White of Brown County, Colby (Travis) Smith of Nineveh & Wayne Towle of Morgantown; great grandchildren, Ava & Ella White of Franklin; many nieces & nephews; and several step grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Pastor Chris Page will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
