Dennis Stinson Obituary

Dennis W. Stinson, age 62 passed away Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2019 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Nashville.

Dennis was born July 19, 1957 in New Castle, to his parents, Arnold “Biggen” and Winnie “Dean” (Frost) Stinson.  He was a 1975 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School in New Castle. Dennis was a former member of the Stinson Tree Service of Nashville.

He was a member of the Belmont Chapel Church in Brown County and an 18 year member of ABATE. Dennis enjoyed the outdoors by fishing, hunting and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a fan of Indiana University Men’s Basketball and NASCAR with his favorite drivers being Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. Dennis loved making new friends and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Melissa A. (Stevens) Stinson, whom he married on January 28, 1983 in New Castle. He is also survived by his parents, Arnold “Biggen” and Winnie “Dean” Stinson of Nashville; daughter, Heather (Adam) Ford of Nashville; siblings, David (Melissa) Stinson, Lloyd (Debbie) Stinson and Kevin Stinson all of Nashville; grandchildren, Owen and Madison Ford and Logan and Cole Stinson, all of Nashville.

Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Wade Stinson; niece, Lori Jo Adams; and a sister in law, Lorinda Stinson.

The Rev. Bruce Bond will conduct a funeral service on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Brown County Music Center, 200 Maple Leaf Blvd. in Nashville. Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the Brown County Music Center. Burial will be at Duncan Cemetery in Nashville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Following the burial, there will be a luncheon served at the Belmont Chapel Church, 5579 Lower Schooner Road in Nashville. Food donations may be dropped off at the church around 10 a.m.

Dennis’s family was blessed to have the opportunity to spend four more years with him when he became the recipient of a double lung transplant in August of 2015. They would like for memorial contributions to be sent in honor of Dennis to the Indiana Donor Network, 3760 Guion Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
