Dennis Merriman Obituary

Dennis A. Merriman, age 71 passed away Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020 at Franciscan Health - Indianapolis.  He was a resident of Brown County.

Dennis was born September 9, 1949 in Indianapolis, to his parents, Earl C. and Exie (Williams) Merriman. He was a 1968 graduate of Brown County High School and went on to retire in 1998 from Eli Lilly in Indianapolis as a Production Operator after more than 30 years of service.

Dennis loved the outdoors by hunting, tending to his flower gardens and collecting rocks, especially geodes of any size, shape or color. He also enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends, and collecting guns, knives, and antiques. 

He is survived by his daughter, Shawn Elizabeth (Christopher) Winchester of Greensburg, grandson, Dylan Lawson of Martinsville; extended children, Lori (Michael) Bass of Martinsville, DuWayne Shanafelt of Nashville and Leslie Langley of Gosport; grandchildren, Tyler and Zachary Bass of Martinsville and Steven Shanafelt of South Dakota; former wife, Patricia Dianne Merriman of Martinsville; and good friends, Troy and Nina Law of Brown County.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Christopher David Merriman.  

Pastor James Brown Jr. will conduct a graveside service on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Brown County. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
