Dennis Duane Knapp, age 73 passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 27, 2023 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. He was a resident of Trafalgar.
Dennis was born on September 28, 1949 in Franklin, to his parents, the late Arnold D. and Helen E. (Graves) Knapp. He served as a Private First Class with Company B 2d Battalion 41st Infantry 2d Armored Division of the United States Army. Dennis was honorably discharged from active duty in July of 1970.
He retired in 2015 from Sunbelt Rentals in Columbus, where he worked as a mechanic for over 25 years. Dennis enjoyed rebuilding small engines, especially two stroke Lawn Boy motors. He also enjoyed collecting compasses, hunting, fishing, four wheeling and bird watching. Dennis was a lover of nature and a fan of old western movies.
Dennis is survived by his children, Laura Lee (George) Thompson of Scipio, Sandra Dee (Willie) Pool of Morgantown, Joey (Heather) Knapp of Alabama & Tamara (Derick Evans) Knapp of Monrovia; siblings, Donald Knapp of Helmsburg, Diane (William) Denny of Indianapolis & David Knapp of Franklin; several grandchildren, great grandchildren & nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Max Knapp, Michael Knapp, Danny Lee Knapp, Robert ‘Bobby’ Knapp & Ida Louese Stump.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7th at First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin. Military rites will be presented by the Franklin Honor Guard and the United States Army. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
