David E. ‘Dave’ Holden, age 88 passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, December 22, 2021 at IU Health – Methodist in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Morgantown and a former longtime resident of Fishers.
Dave was born March 12, 1933 in Indianapolis, to his parents, the late Uriah and Marie Holden. He was a 1952 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis and went on to serve as a Seaman with the United States Navy Reserves for eight years. Dave retired in 1999 as a Steamfitter for Indianapolis Public Schools after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret A. (Scarbro) Holden, whom he married on April 23, 1955 in Indianapolis. Dave is also survived by children, Ann (husband, Tom) Alloway of Columbus, Ohio, Tina (husband, Bruce) Eckhardt of Hayden, Idaho and David Holden of Tampa, Florida; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Deborah McNeeley, grandson, Jared Dixson; and siblings, Patricia Neadue, Cecil and John Holden.
Dave was a member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown. He enjoyed traveling, RV camping and listen to mystery audio books. Dave enjoyed collecting cars, especially his 1940 Chevy and 1969 Chevy Truck. He will be remembered by family and friends as always staying busy by working in his barn, riding his tractor or tending to his yard. Dave loved spending time with his family and caring for his dogs, Bella and Trish.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday at 12 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
