Daniel J. Miley

Daniel J. ‘Dan’ Miley, age 80 passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 13, 2023 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Brown County.

Dan was born July 9, 1943 in Sheboygan, WI to his parents, the late Eugene and Bernice (Schaf) Miley. He was a 1961 graduate of Sheboygan North High School and went on to earn his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1973. Dan retired in 2008 as a Senior Engineer for ITT Aerospace after 23 years of service.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, where he participated in the choir. Other memberships included, Toastmasters International, Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, and the Association of Old Crows. Dan enjoyed living and swimming at Sweetwater in Brown County. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dan will be remembered for being an amateur home improvement or do-it-yourself kind of person. He would tackle remodels, to electrical and plumbing challenges. Dan was a fan of all sports, but was loyal to the Big 10, with the University of Wisconsin Football being his favorite.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth Mary (Loftis) Miley, whom he married on October 11, 1969 in Beloit, WI. He is also survived by his children, David Miley of Indianapolis, Jennifer (Robert Morrissey) Miley of Eugene, Oregon & Peter (Jessica) Miley of Indianapolis; sister, Sylvia Stanley of Texas; and grandchildren, Emma & Ethan Morrissey, Henry & Maren Miley.

Dan was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Miley.

Father Eric Johnson will conduct a Funeral Mass on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 Mclary Road in Nashville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of Mass on Friday at the Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
