Charles E. Ballard, age 80 passed away Monday afternoon, March 9, 2020 at The Waters of Martinsville. He was a resident of Morgantown.
Charles was born February 11, 1940 in Madison, to his parents, the late Harry and Bonnie Melvina (McDowell) Ballard. He served as a Private First Class with the 9th Mountain Battalion of the United States Army from 1962 to 1964.
Charles was retired from Midwest Orthodontics in Indianapolis, where he worked as a Recovery Clerk. He enjoyed tending to his flower gardens, reading and watching old westerns and caring for his dogs, George and Spencer. Charles also enjoyed painting ceramic statues.
He is survived by siblings, David, Tom, William and James Ballard; caregivers, Betty Fox and Bobby Fox; and several cousins.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Helen Ballard; and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Leknes.
A Military Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19th at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Military rites will be presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards and the United States Army. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
