Betty Lou (Danz) Palmer

Betty Lou (Danz) Palmer, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, May 17, 2020 with her loving family by her side at her home in Trafalgar.

Betty Lou was born September 22, 1937 in Indianapolis to her parents, the late Harry Herbert and Mary Pearl (Mears) Danz. She attended Emmerich Manuel High School in Indianapolis. Betty Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Through the years she opened her home and welcomed over fifty foster children, from babies to young children, who she cared for and loved each one of them as if they were her own.   

Betty Lou was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church in Trafalgar, where she was the pianist for many years. Betty Lou was also a member of the Morgantown Senior Center, where she enjoyed fellowship and playing cards. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, computer games, reading Amish Books and watching the Walton’s on television. She will be remembered for her never-ending generosity and self-less nature.  

Betty Lou was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Albert “Captain Jack” Palmer, whom she married on November 14, 1952 in Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Catherine Kleinschmidt, Annamae Carter, Violet Anderson, Helen Glass, Patty Danz, Harry, Robert and William Danz.

Betty Lou is survived by her children, Ronald Bruce Palmer of Greenwood, Robin Lynn Palmer and Pamela Kaye Palmer, both of Trafalgar and Byron K. (Dawn) Palmer of Indianapolis; siblings, Pearl Wilson and Roberta Moore, both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Anthony Palmer, Ronald Palmer II, Albert Keith Palmer II, Nathan Palmer, April Corn, Adrianne Nelis, Jennifer McGowan, Fred Hourigan, Eric Clark, Erin Clark-Reed, Shane Palmer, Brittany Vleck, Ashleigh Palmer, Leah Palmer-Bohney and Grant Palmer; 36 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.        

The Rev. Ron Sodrel will conduct a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Beech Grove Baptist Church, 5868 W. 325 S. in Trafalgar. Senior aged family and friends or those with underlying medical conditions can visit from 4-5 p.m. on Thursday at the church. The general public is invited to visitation from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing will apply. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
