Betty Willis Obituary

Betty J. (Lair) Willis, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2020. She was a resident of Trafalgar.

Betty was born October 24, 1938 in Indianapolis, to her parents, the late Herman and Ruby (Gabhart) Lair. She was a 1958 graduate of Decatur Central High School and retired in 1991 after 18 years of driving a school bus for Perry Township Schools.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Morgantown, Red Hat Society and a Quilting Club in Martinsville. Betty was also an active member of the Franklin Senior Center, where she participated in line dancing and exercise classes. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. Betty also enjoyed cooking & baking, spending time with her family and entertaining friends and family around the holidays.

Betty was preceded in death on February 10, 2012 by her loving husband of 55 years, Lewis "Ed" Willis, whom she married on June 16, 1956 in Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Sarah Lair and Jack Lair.

Betty survived by her children, Glenda (Mike) Lee and Eddie (Tiffany) Willis, both of Trafalgar; special friend, Lyle Plank of Greenfield; grandchildren, Lauren (Eric) Smith of Edinburgh, Aaron (Kelcie) Lee of Morgantown, Jake (Ashlee) Willis, Sam Willis and Joey Willis, all of Trafalgar; great grandchildren, Tallulah Lee, Clark Smith and baby Rowan Willis (expected in August).

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a Memorial Graveside Service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17th at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.  

Memorial contributions may be sent in honor of Betty to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th St. Ste. 100 Indianapolis, IN 46278.
