Berlie Gene Johnson, age 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 16, 2020 at his home in Mooresville. He was a former resident of Lebanon, Virginia.
Berlie was born September 28, 1931 in Cleveland, Virginia, to his parents, the late Sim and Mary E. (Ball) Johnson. Berlie worked as a floor installer in Indiana, Florida & Virginia and continued working after his retirement as a Bank Courier.
Berlie loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, ginseng hunting and walking in the woods. He enjoyed watching the news, listening to the weather forecasts and spending time with his family. Berlie also enjoyed traveling back to Virginia to visit with family and friends. He will be remembered by his family as a hard worker and always staying busy.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie Ann (Coleman) Johnson on June 14, 2010. Berlie was also preceded in death by children, Ronnie, Donnie & Amber Johnson, Janice Stone and Sandra Higgins; siblings, Les, Walter, Carl, Willard, James & Jack Johnson, Hazel Powers, Beulah Sutherland & Lois Kiser.
Berlie is survived by his children, Jean (Roger) Melick of Oaklandon, Louellen (Steve) Brock of Pittsboro, Tony (Diane) Hampshire of Indianapolis and Diane (Bill) Huelsman of Lawrenceburg; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service on Friday at 1 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
