Audrey I. (Stanford) Fitzgerald-Blackwell, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 28, 2022 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Brown County.
Audrey was born June 18, 1929 in Peoga, to her parents, to the late Ed and Zelma (Wells) Stanford. She attended Franklin High School and went on to retire in 2003 from the Housekeeping Department of Seasons Lodge in Nashville after 32 years of service.
Audrey was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Trafalgar and was also a longtime member of the Hickory Ridge Senior Center in Brown County. She enjoyed reading Christian books, watching game shows, gardening, cooking and baking.
Audrey was preceded in death on July 11, 2006 by her loving husband of 57 years, Billy W. Fitzgerald, whom she married on July 31, 1948 in Alcorn County, MS. She remarried on November 16, 2009 to Ermol Blackwell. He also preceded her in death. Audrey was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Edna Mae Smith, Catherine Tuley and Frieda Gardner; and great-grandson, Graham Lewis.
Audrey is survived by her son, Stephen W. (Carol) Fitzgerald of Brown County; grandchildren, Lisa (Joel) Lewis and Sam (Carly) Fitzgerald, both of Brown County; great grandchildren, Cole, Nathan and Noah Lewis, Brayden and Bradley Fitzgerald, all of Brown County.
The Rev. Jeff Hopson will conduct a funeral service at noon on Saturday, August 6th at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
